Happy birthday Alan! We had a wonderful weekend of birthday fun with family and friends and I’m so happy have been able to celebrate another birthday with this gem:
Steiny, I love every second I spend with you and there’s only more amazing times to come. From getting lost trying to find our way to Canada when we first met, to getting lost in the woods for hours the day you proposed – no matter how far off the path we get, we always make it back together laughing. I don’t know how we managed to find each other, but I can’t imagine any other person on earth I would want to spend my life with. I love you so much, hope you have the most wonderful birthday yet.
I’m happy to be back home after a busy week last week! Between a business trip which included long days and flight delays, a beautiful rehearsal dinner and wedding for some dear friends this weekend, and lots of catching up to do, I finally had a moment to relax today! I slept in, ran some errands, and started an herb garden.
Since we moved into our apartment last year, Alan and I have talked about growing an herb garden. The summer slipped by last year and winter didn’t exactly seem like an opportune time to start growing anything. But this year it’s on! We went to the store today and are ready to grow some basil, parsley, cilantro, chives and strawberries. I self-admittedly have a knack for killing off plants. No matter how hard I try to grow something, I end up with a rotten looking sprig. I’m feeling pretty confident about my green thumb this year and I can’t wait to see my little seedlings sprout!
Spring is such a fresh, fun time of year. Everything is blooming and you get to finally thaw out after the cold of Winter. Sounds like a perfect occasion to throw a lovely get-together! Some must-haves: fresh flowers, crisp cocktails, finger foods, and flowy dresses.

Today is my dad’s birthday (as you may have guessed from the title of this post). My dad has inspired me to be motivated, work hard, and always push myself to do better. He’s given me guidance, while leaving me space to learn for myself and make my own mistakes. I’m not sure where I’d be today without this fine gentleman.
Happy birthday, Daddy. You only get better with age! Love you.
Fresh flowers really can brighten up any room. I absolutely adore vases of flowers throughout the home, especially during Spring. There’s just no room they don’t look pretty in! Below: my home office, living room and kitchen (please excuse the creased tablecloth, I haven’t had time to iron). Don’t they bring extra life to these spaces? Fresh flowers are a must this Spring!
Today is my sister’s 30th birthday party. That’s her to with the ‘stache looking charming as ever. (Photo from the fabulous HK Photography.)
I wanted to get her something extra thoughtful since 30 is kind of a big deal. It all started with this Pottery Barn jewelry box, because what girl wouldn’t want a beautiful place to store her precious pieces?
Then it turned into thinking ‘A jewelry box without jewelry in it? Lame.’ So some of her closest friends and I got together to get her something wonderful. We ended up finding a beautiful rose gold eternity ring with white diamonds – for her middle finger so it doesn’t look like a wedding band.
I love that it’s simple & delicate enough to layer, and pretty enough to wear alone. I don’t know the name of the designer, but it looks similar to these from Ylang|23:
Happy birthday Kristina, love you.
I love sending (and receiving) hand-written thank you cards. It’s so easy to send a text or email these days. A hand-written note adds a special touch to show your appreciation. I came across these adorable cards from Sugar Paper, Los Angeles. Love!
